Paris

Route 79 bus. And not long after - picked up a taxi at Gare Du Nord. As we weaved our way through town - we stop at some traffic lights. Hot and humid outside. Windows down. The stench was unbearable. The sewage of Paris overwhelmed the senses. I stopped for a moment to admire the architecture as viewed from the taxi at the stop-light.

Daydreaming the sights and smells of Paris

Last year I visited Paris around the same time.. ghosh.. it was 42 deg C.. the hottest day ever. The next three days were the same and it was hell. For the first time, I felt weather is much better in Chennai.

I have been there once before and I really, really liked the city.. much more than London, but for the untidy subways.

i’m somewhat glad i went to paris in the winter then, even though it was pretty darn cold. No sewage smell, even went for a boat ride down the seine and nothing.

A few years back an Australian friend told me “You have to look up, - and keep looking up. Only then will you be able to marvel.” She meant it for London, but I think it’s also true for Paris. Especially walking through these large blocks of 4+ storey houses. On the stench though, - no idea what helps. Maybe wearing a couble of croissants around your neck? ;)

Funny they never mention this in the travel guides, it is allways better to hear firsthand. I wonder if April in Paris is just as bad?

Is it a magical bus - that Route79.
That takes you from one city to another. ;)

Austin does seem to have a pretty good bus system.
And its free for all the UT austin students. All we have to do is swipe the ID cards and off we go.

No Double deckers though.
