Mystic Last Bus

Tidying up my picture archive. Found one that I had forgotten all about. Taken from the front of the top deck of the bus. Late night journey home.

Reflections on a bus journey home.

The camera’s AF system seems to have targeted the graffiti scratches on the front window. But you can see the reflections of people on the bus. This isn’t quite the last Route 79 bus. The last one runs just after midnight.

I quickly knocked up a short video of me looking out for the last Route 79 bus as it passes through my neighbourhood on a really foggy Diwali night in October last year. The title of the video is “Mystic Last Bus” and the musical accompaniment is “Movin’ too Fast” by Artful Dodger.

Click here to download the video (Only 2 Mbytes).

Should only take 60 seconds on Broadband/Cable/ADSL.
Do a “right-click-and-Save-Target-As” to download the WMV file.
It is NOT meant for streaming.
Download it to a folder of your choice and double-click on it after it’s downloaded.

Be warned - this vid took only 5 minutes to produce - so don’t expect anything too exciting. In fact - it’s a bit “nerdy”. The music is probably the best thing about it.

Hmm. Interesting article - though the brightness could have been improved up - it was too dark.
One question - when does the first and last bus go - Here - the first buses leave their depot at around 5 am, the last (regular buses) terminate at around 11 - 11:30 pm. Though there are special nite service buses which run at 1:30 in the am - for the late nite workers and movie goers.

Very arty photo indeed Jag. Nice one!

Sat - almost the same here - the first bus goes at around 5:15-ish - and the last one goes at around 1am. After that - London’s “night bus” network kicks into action - and these run between 1am-ish until 5:15-ish. So - there are buses around the clock 24/7 - but the night-time hours are different routes and different timetables.

Stu: thanks - funny - cos I didn’t think it was arty at all at first - in fact still don’t.

At first I thought ‘Ooh clever trick of the light!’ until I realised that it was graffiti…

That’s pretty much what I thought when I looked at the image - but the reality of it dawned upon me when I remembered that even toughened London-bus glass is not immune to the die-hard “graffiti-artist” !
