Take five
Track number 10 on a free CD attached to the front of Cosmo magazine had a very Pink Panther-esque feel about it. (The 1970s cartoon - not the film). It's a tune that most people will recognise. It accompanies the following photo montage presentation: 25 previously unpublished, random images of things in my neighbourhood, or my bus, or places I've been to. All in or around London. Real London.Posted by jag at November 7, 2004 05:40 PM

Excellent Job. Saves me airfare on a trip to the Uk when I can do it from my PC and have a sountrack to boot.

That's a nice collection of photos What's the name of the song you used?

Hi Fritz: cheers! Philosophical statement: Pictures (no matter how great they are) are never a substitute for the real thing. (Also - I wonder if you saw a previous photo presentation which had considerably more pics in it: http://www.route79.com/journal/archives/000298.html )
Hi Colin: thanks for your comment. And thx for the feedback re the pics. The musical accompaniment is titled "Take Five" - performed by Quincy Jones. I think it's from an album called "Exodus" I think - which was possibly released in 2003. However: this music was originally composed by a chap called Paul Desmond (1924-1977) - who was a saxophonist in the "Dave Brubeck octet" (a jazz band) in the post-war years. This particular piece ("Take Five") is probably his best known solo piece - which he himself composed - and incidentally: all royalties from this hit were donated to the Red Cross. I presume it still is today!

The photos are really wonderful, the theme and the and timing of all the photos are special. Curious to know as to how you could find time to set up such a wonderful blog and still carry on with your normal activity.

Thank God for the high speed connection in my lab.
The music seemed to be the perfect accompaniment to the montage. And it was a wide varied collection.
And I guess the third photo is your office.

Hello Jayjit - thank you! Well - in actual fact I've been finding it quite difficult to keep these pages updated very frequently recently - and this is due to going through a very busy phase with work at the moment. Of course, I am busy most of the time - but it's usually late at night - just before I go to bed that I try to load some updates when I can. Basically - it doesn't involve much time to take some pictures whilst travelling around London doing my normal business. And then - when I get a few minutes at the weekend - or late at night before bed : I simply load the pictures up and write a few words. If I am creating a slideshow like the one above - then it takes a little longer - but usually I have a working template that I use - which speeds things up. You are ansolutely right - blogging can be time-consuming - but using as much automatic tools as possible helps speed things up considerably. This also allows me to spend more time on the creative stuff - rather than messing around with the formats and design of the postings etc.
Sat: Yes - the music was strangely a good fit. Strangely - because I selected it very randomly and very quickly - without much thought. Perhaps that's why it works.
The third pic isn't actually my office! Although we have several offices in Slough - that's one of them - but it's not the one I work at. (Although I do go there sometimes for meetings etc.)
