City Lights
Travelling home from work later than planned served as a stark reminder of the days to come: the increasingly earlier darkness brings with it a completely different perspective of urban London. Time to start taking the front-most seat on the upper deck if possible. For some reason I feel that this mitigates somewhat the depressing lack of anything to see out the window when seated at the back. Strangely - but unsurprisingly - I spend most of the journey home staring at a reflection of myself - and vigilantly looking out for the passengers sat in the rows of seats behind me. Tonight I am rewarded by the spectacular sight of the lighted-up arch of the new Wembley Stadium under construction as the bus meanders it's way through the mid-evening traffic on Wembley High Road. It's not very often that the arch is lit - and in doing so - puncturing the rare glimpses of what remains of an urban horizon with a magical brightness that dazzles. It's hard to not be captivated by the spectacle.

is strange how big cities can be suddenly beautiful - especially at night - I keep thinking this everytime I am in Fort area in Bombay late at night :)

Thanks Chakra - glad you liked it!
Charu: yes - the night brings a different kind of beauty. And although I haven't experienced Fort area at night in Mumbai myself - I can but imagine!

Gorgeous rainbow. I used to live just by that gate with the sign on it.

Have you tried or do you use the Mozilla Firefox browser? I have found it to work great.

Vanessa: Which gate are you talkin' about?? ! :-)
Fritz: I have indeed! And in fact - I use Firefox as my alternative "test" browser.

Aha - Vanessa - I get it now - you were referring to the Photo Montage shockwave presentation which I actually posted several weeks back here: http://www.route79.com/journal/archives/000298.html . But ever since then - Mozilla users have been served up that photo montage every time I post up a new shockwave object. I have now fixed that - and you should be seeing the right objects now. Apologies.
There were several gates in that montage - which one did you live near? The ones in Green Park near Buckingham Palace?
