Days of the week
I'm sorry I haven't updated here for a while - the last few days seemed to have zipped by - and busy long days at work seem to have been spilling over into the evenings too. Click on the "MORE" below to continue ...Posted by jag at April 30, 2004 07:08 AM

Very nice... but Jag you'll have to help me with this one... I am able to hear the sound on all your videos (including the ones you posted for download earlier)... but have never been able to see the pictures... could it be because I have an older player or something?
Nevertheless... her little voice is very sweet. I could only understand the French :)

Hi Anand - what a pity you have not been able to see the moving images. Can I ask you some questions:
1. What OS you running? (Windows 2000, XP etc.)
2. What browser you running? (IE, Mozilla, Opera etc.)
3. What version of Windows Media Player have you got installed?
From your description of the problem it's quite possibly because you have an older version of Media Player and you don't have the right codec to decode the video (Microsoft ASF codec) - but you do have the right codec for the audio.
Let me know the answers to the above questions so that we can troubleshoot.

Hmm. It does seem good, except that I dont understand any of the languages. Too Bad.
Anyway - shouldnt the streaming video play without buffering when I play it the second time - doesnt it store the data on my computer?
And for dial-up - it seems to buffer for every second

Hi Sat: thanks - glad you liked it! Regarding streaming video: unfortunately the second time you play it (and every subsequent time you play it) it will stream from the server again - i.e. it will not be cached on your computer; this is the nature of streaming: the data is not cacheable.
What did you mean by "it seems to buffer for every second" ?

For every second of playing, it seemed to buffer. It was not continuous - there was one second of video, followed by 15 seconds of buffering and again 1 second of video and so on.

Jag.. I run 2000, IE and media player 6.4.etc...!
Thats primitive right?

Anand: I strongly suspect that the reason you can't see the video is that you prob don't have the the right Video codec to decode the video in the arriving stream - and that this is due to you having a pre 7.1 Windows Media Player. If you go to "Windows Update" and choose to update your Windows Media Player to anything later than 7.1 (the latest is version 9) then you will get all the latest codecs etc. Be warned though: Windows Update is best NOT done on dialup! The update packages can be very large! :-)

Jag.. I think I just need to change my computer. A long overdue upgrade!
