Back of the bus

Whenever I ride the bus - I always go to the upper deck and sit right at the back. I used to only do that in the mornings on the way to work. But now I do it in the evenings on the way home too. Why? I'm not sure. I guess that sitting at the back of the upper deck gives a feeling of power - of control. Almost as if I "own" the bus - and I am in charge. Like the bus us *my* domain. On most days there are usually a bunch of teenagers at the back of the upper deck of the bus. Teenagers have a habit of gravitating to that spot - right at the back. But I always go sit amongst them. And often, this makes them feel slightly uncomfortable. It's almost as if the back of the bus belongs to them - and them alone. Like I'm some kind of "alien" that has invaded their space. But I always ignore their stares of disapproval - for this is *my* bus. And after a while - the very act of confidently sitting there and ignoring them usually wins their respect. I am accepted.

I thot sitting in the front of the bus, right above the Drivers seat, gave you all the fun, besides the back of the bus ought to be quite bumpy..

Oh yes - sitting at the front on the top-deck gives all the fun - but sitting right at the back gives a feeling of "ownership". And it's not so bumpy really - London buses have very good suspension.

i love the reds in that pic. so vivid despite the late hour. Brought back lots of memories.
I loved sitting at the top too. made me feel like the mistress of all that i surveyed.

btw does route 79 stop at alperton station?

Hi Harini - funny cos I liked the pic for exactly the same reason. No messing about in Photoshop with it either (except to blur out the car licence plates). So the colours came out of the camera exactly how you see them. You can see the "smearing" effect of the traffic lights on the right hand side. This is probably due to the fact that the picture was taken through my car windscreen as I sat in the queue at the traffic junction.

And yes - Route 79 does indeed stop at Alperton Station. That's where I take it to every day!

Since I have done away with the pushcahir there has only been one place to sit... for all little boys know the from of the top deck is the best place whatever their mummy thinks
