Crime & Fume-Spotting
Every week, around 3 different "free" local newspapers get put through our front door letterbox. Every week I spend no more than 60 seconds flicking through the pages - mostly to figure out what the house prices in our area are like - and then they get put into the kitchen to use as a convenient "wrapper" for waste food by-product - e.g. potato and carrot peelings, onion skins etc. before they go into the bin. One of this week's papers however (Harrow Times) had a very short article in it that caught my attention:

Even I get the friendly neighbourhood paper. And I too manage to give it just a 120 seconds glance at it.
I would rather pray that I was lucky to not have been in that bus. And it pays to have more commonf sense than to show off the brawn power in robbery situations.
P. C :How do you get the icon for the web page - that says in Yellow - "Route 79" in a London Underground like symbol?

Hi Sat - the little symbol you refer to is called a "favicon". IE-based browsers pick this up from the web server if it's there - and uses it to display the little icon in the address bar as well as in your "favourites" menu. (Which is why it's called a "favicon"). I have noticed that everyone has them these days - so I produced one for my site based upon the design and colour. You basically just create a 16x16 bitmap and save it in Microsoft "ico" format - and give it the name "favicon.ico" - and save it in the same directory as your index.html file.
There's loads of info re favicons out there - just type it into Google - or try this page: http://www.favicon.co.uk/

Shows up perfectly well in non-IE browsers such as Mozilla & Mozilla Firefox too ;)

Oh - so it works with Mozilla as well? I stand corrected P. Should've guessed I suppose: I've noticed your pages have had favicon for some time too - and I like yours a lot: a great representation of your site layout!

Sorry, couldn't resist a quick Mozilla plug! Firefox in particular is such a nice browser, really don't know how I ever put up with IE...
Thanks for the compliment - my favicon is mainly due to lack of imagination and artistic skills, though ;)
