A friend of mine has this very model; seems to be absolutely happy with it - I hope it meets your expectations.
Incidentally, of all the digital film processing companies I've used, the one operated by internetcamerasdirect.co.uk at www.icdphotos.com has proven to be one of the best (no, not affiliated with it - I'm just a picky student) - order your photos online on one day, and most of the time, they arrive by next morning. Pretty baffling turnaround, and their photo calendars are pretty impressive. Have fun!

Hi Alistair: thanks for the tip re icdphotos.com - I'll definitely give it a go. I've never tried a service like that before as I have had a succession of crap digital cameras that would not produce images of sufficient quality for print - so I used to take snaps for website use only. Now that I'm getting a nicer camera - I shall certainly be interested in printing (especially for my Mum!)

Looks a lovely camera! Size definitely matters though (if it's too bulky you just won't bother carrying it around with you, or at least that's what I found with my old camera) so I can see why you went for that over the other two.

I still have daydreams about someday owning a G5 though :) I probably will too ... when they're about ten years out of date ;)

Hi again Pewari, agree with the point about dreaming for the G5 - without a doubt the Canon is the best of the three in its class - but it was the cheaper price of the Sony - and as you quite rightly pointed out, its size and speed of "switch-on-to-shot" that made all the difference to me. Still - for web use it shouldn't make much noticable difference - and for print use: well I'm hoping that it won't be noticed. After all - what you don't see you don't miss!!

for a while though which is perfect for the web and my covert tube shots. It even has a little microphone and web cam.

The shots seem to print OK to - well up to A4 size, not sure how they would be on anything larger as I've not got a printer to cope with anything larger anyway ;-)

That Epsilon 2.1 looks like it's quite good value. The Amazon reviews are a bit mixed though. Still - too late - I've ordered my Sony now.

I carry a Sony DSC-72 which I ordered from amazon and I am happy with my toy. Annie, I wonder how you get away with taking pictures on the tube. All my attempts usually result in people look profoundly interested in my business.

Remi: perhaps there is an art to being discreet! I, too, suffer the same problem most of the time!

I will have to learn the art. Too often I miss out on some good moments because of this.
